Staging Wars - A Review

Staging Wars

by

Grace Topping

Grace Topping has created another inviting cozy mystery staring house staging master Laura Bishop. This time the corpse shows up at the small town funeral parlor - except the corpse is found on the floor with a knife sticking out of his back and fresh blood on the floor.

Each chapter begins with one or two sentences providing hints on preparing a house for viewing prior to sale - the same format was used in the first book in the series. Collecting the 100 or so hints found in these two books would go a long way in helping the homeowner prepare his or her home for sale. At nearly 50 chapters, the book seems just a bit long. The story was good, but it was sometimes hard to get attached to the characters and plot. There were times I gave thought to not finishing it. Thus, the 3-½ half star review.

Like many small towns, Louiston had its share of wacky characters. From the manager of the town diner to the detective who was irritated that Laura involved herself in his cases even when it was to prove the innocence of a friend. And when she does, it often leads to trouble for her, her friends, and her co-workers.
