Countdown to Darkness - A Review

A Review

A young "Keptin" Kirk, Spock, Scotty, Bones, and the rest of the Enterprise Crew, are getting themselves in trouble - and faced with a difficult choice between disobeying the Prime Directive or watching a young planet's inhabitants be destroyed.  The "dead" Captain Robert April, former Captain of an earlier Star Ship Enterprise, has already made that decision for himself.  How will it influence the current crew of the Enterprise?

The graphic novel is enjoyable as it pits the two Captains in a battle to save a planet and to save the Federation.  At a little over 100 pages, the reader is kept on the edge his (or her) seat  from beginning to end.  The conclusion is a bit unsatisfying - but will leave the reader wanting more.

My biggest disappointment with the book is that its original format did not allow reading on the Kindle.  An update, issued several months after the book was published, allowed it to be read without difficulty.
