So began each episode of the Lone Ranger that ran on TV from 1949 to 1956. Though this graphic novel does not begin with these words, the story, with a single exception, holds the same excitement found in the weekly TV show of my youth. This novel places itself as a successor of the long running TV show rather than the more recent movie starring Johnny Depp.
As I began to read, I felt as if the book should of have been titled “Stories of the Old West” in that some of the early stories seem to have forgotten to include the Lone Ranger as a character. Later chapters made it clear that this book was a contribution of the lore that could define the characters made famous 60 years ago.
Whether a fan of the old west, of the Lone Ranger, or trying to understand life in the late 1940s and early 1950s, Parks and Polls as they explore the continuing adventures of the Lone Ranger. I was encouraged to return to Hulu, IMDB, and Amazon Prime to watch an episode or two of the original TV series. This graphic novel made it a pleasure to do so.
